US offline consumption continued to be strong in Jan 2022. The latest data showed that US textile and apparel imports value in Jan 2022 increased to 10.19billion USD, up by 28% year-on-year, exceeding 10 billion USD for the sixth month in a row. The imports volume reached 8.59 billion m2, up by 38.1% year-on-year. US apparel imports value in Jan 2022 rose to 7.54 billion USD, up by 36.6% year-on-year and the imports volume reached 2.614 billion m2, up by 22.5% year-on-year.

The US textile and apparel imports volume from China in Jan 2022 increased to 3.13billion m2, up by 12% year-on-year. The imports value reached 2.9billion USD, up by 33% year-on-year. US apparel imports value from China in Jan 2022 rose to 1.91 billion USD, up by 47.1% year-on-year and the imports volume reached 1 billion m2, up by 25.2% year-on-year.

From the monthly data, the US textile and apparel imports from China saw a monthly improvement, an increase in month-on-month, but there was still a big decline compared with 2019.
In terms of unit price, US apparel imports average unit price was still in a large rise cycle. Because of seasonal factors, there were ups and downs in some months, but the overall still showed upward, reflecting the market inflation.
